As part of this year’s Christmas campaign, McDonald’s UK were looking for new and innovative ways to celebrate the little things that make this time of year special. Augmented reality was the perfect choice to create a fun and interactive experience for McDonald’s customers, letting them decorate their local restaurant with virtual lights, reindeer, trees and snowmen.
Users can also dress their own homes with the festive DecoARations too and then capture a photo including their loved ones in the Christmas scene to share with friends on social media.
The WebAR experience is promoted online, on social and in the McDonald’s mobile app as part of the #ReindeerReady brand campaign.
Darabase integrated content moderation tools to ensure that photographs are appropriate before they can be shared and partnered with OMD and Leo Burnett UK to produce the AR experience as part of The Alternative Christmas List.
The Alternative Christmas List invites fans to enjoy six unique experiences, released weekly in the build up to Christmas. Every experience on The Alternative Christmas List has been created to enhance a shared family moment. The AR experience will be live from 12 December until 26 December.
