AR Colouring Magic

Punch Pubs has teamed up with Darabase to launch a magical Augmented Reality (AR) experience that transforms children’s drawings into immersive 3D animations, bringing colourings to life across selected pubs. This family-friendly initiative turns a simple colouring activity into an interactive moment, making the dining experience more entertaining for both kids and their parents.

The Experience

At participating Punch Pubs, children receive an A4 menu with a custom colouring design. By scanning the page with a mobile phone or tablet via a QR code, their artwork comes to life in vibrant 3D AR, with animations reflecting their colours, from soaring hot air balloons to fluttering kites. Families can capture and share photos of these 3D scenes, featuring personalised elements like the pub’s name on the photo frames, creating a memorable connection between the pub and its visitors.

The Solution

Darabase’s innovative AR technology powers this fun, family-focused experience, enriched with animations and sound effects like clouds, wind, and balloons to enhance the flying-themed environment. It offers families a playful, unique dining experience at Punch Pubs. This partnership highlights Punch Pubs’ dedication to enhancing in-pub experiences and positions the brand as a leader in experiential dining, using AR to create memorable and shareable moments for families. Download the menu using the link below, print it off, colour in the artwork on page 2 and scan the QR code to try it for yourself!

James GoldsworthyDirector of Digital & Creative

I was so impressed by the innovative kid’s menu AR colouring experience that Darabase created for Punch Pubs. Watching how children could see their own artwork come to life in 3D was not only really fun but also incredibly effective in keeping them entertained while waiting for their food. The concept is so simple yet brilliantly executed—it captivated us all and provided a unique, engaging dining experience which we could then take home and continue to play with weeks later. It showcased that Darabase had a true understanding of Punch Pubs, as well as their customers, and inspired me to reach out to them.
